Past

When the light or God as he later would become known created the race of man, the darkness marveled at them. Try as she might, she couldn't help becoming envious of the relationship that the light shared with his newest creation and wishing to experience such a thing for herself she decided to create a race of her own--called the dark ones. For a time, both species lived upon the earth together, but man feared the children of the dark and slowly that feared turned into hatred. This hatred led man to kill the king and queen of the dark ones, but this task was not something they could do on their own. They had to have aid from a dark one. The light outraged over what man had done decided to take away the sun and would only return it when they those born of the dark aren't necessarily evil.

Over time man's fear and hatred turned to reverence, and man came to worship the dark ones as deities. The dark ones greatly enjoyed their new position, and at first, they were beneficent deities, but as time went on, they became crueler and crueler. The height of their brutality came during the reign of the Trinity. It was clear to everyone that if something wasn't done that mankind would be wiped off the face of the world, but most were unwilling to stand up against the Trinity. Considering what tended to happen to those that did their desire to just accept the status quo was understandable, but luckily for man there were still those who simply refused to accept things as there were and one day one of the Trinty's challengers managed to defeat them.

He was a dark one named Azmyth, and instead of killing or banishing the Trinity he decided to enlist them as his top lords. Azmyth began his reformation of dark one society, but despite his belief they would embrace these changes Azmyth discovered his people resisted them greatly. He could have forced them to accept these changes, but Azmyth believed that the only way to get these changes to stick was to convince his people to accept of their own volition, and he understood this would be a slow process. He was more than willing to take the slower path if it meant returning his people to what they were meant to be.

It was during this era that Eden was born. His father, Marken, was a member of the Trinity and many regarded him as the leader of the three--even though they were equal. He was especially known for his cruelty. He was a very controlling man, who enjoyed playing with people. He used these games to train others to obey him completely, but they were often driven insane during these games. As long as Marken got what he wanted, he didn't appear to care about his victim's mental state. One of his victims was the woman who would become Eden's mother. She had been born to a lesser lord and lady of dark one society. They were nowhere near the status of Trinity, but they had enough influence and power to hold their own land.

They believed that no one would be interested within their land, which had belonged their family since before the sun had been removed from the world, but they were wrong. A higher ranking dark one was threatening to take their land, and they had no idea what they were going to do. They knew they were powerless to stand against this dark one, but their status of nobility would be stripped from them if they lost their land. Just when they have given up hope, Marken approached them with a proposition they just couldn't refuse. In exchange for ensuring that their land stayed with them, they would allow their daughter to become his lover. They agreed to his terms without hesitation and forced their daughter accept her new role.

She remained with Marken for some time, enduring his torturous ways until she gave birth to Eden. However, Eden would never know his mother, at least not as his mother. Shortly after giving birth, his mother lost all her memories and Marken elected to return her to her family. This pleased her brother greatly as he had always wanted his sister and saw her lost memories as a way to claim what he had always desired. He accepted Marken's desire to retain custody of Eden and allowed Marken to visit his sister whenever he wished. Eden often accompanied his father during these visits, but he had no idea that this woman was his mother.

The only thing he knew about his mother was what his father had told him. His father told him that his mother had hated his very existence, that she thought he was a monster and would have killed him if it wasn't for Marken's intervention, but the love he bore for both of them prevented him from ending her life right then and there, however, he didn't have to worry about her making any further attempt because she vanished into the night not long after. From an early age, Eden was introduced to Marken's cruel games. One might even say that he was his father's favorite victim. He was only allowed to leave his father's side on rare occasions. One such occasion being when Azmyth's brought his children over to visit. Eden who was extremely fond of Azmyth's oldest son was allowed to play with him out of his father's watchful gaze.

Another time was when they visited his mother. Even through Eden didn't know their connection his father allowed them to spend time together without his supervision. During these visits Eden witness his uncle's mistreatment of his mother--an example being when his uncle burnt his mother's face. In spite how he was treated by his father, Eden didn't understand why his uncle would do such a thing, but his father's explanation that she was being punished for some unseen slight satisfied any confusion Eden had over the matter.

Around this time, Angels, who found it difficult to protect man as they desired within the world of darkness, pleaded with the light to provide man with another protector. God answered their prayers by going to hell and recruiting the demons who dwelled there. For a time, demons protected mankind admirably. They didn't change how the dark one treated man, but they made it, so their mistreatment didn't go unchecked. However. eventually demons begun to treat humans in the exact same manner that the dark ones had. For a while, man endured two sadistic masters until one day a human by the name of Sara Jean climbed the top of the highest mountain and asked god for a tool in which they could use to defend themselves.

God moved by her pleas decided to return the sun to earth, and for the first time for quite a while man stood as their own defenders against their tormentors. The dark ones decided to retreat to another sunless realm where they could rule supreme, but from time to time they pop into the human realm to see the progression of human society and to snatch any human they might desire. Eden was one of them, but he never abducted any human into the other realm. This wasn't to say he didn't have his share of earthling lovers during this time. He just didn't have any he desired enough to claim.

This changed during eighteen century, when Eden's friend--a half breed that he claimed as his sister--travelled to the human realm ended up meeting and falling in love with a fairy. She elected to stay with her fae lover, but tragedy stole the life from the fairy, leaving his wife and daughter alone. Eden fearing that someone would take advantage of his sister's current condition and claim her daughter as their slave because during this time fae were consider rare---half fae especially so, and there were those who took great pleasure over collecting and controlling rare specimen, decided to come to earth to protect his friend against anyone who wish her ill.

Her daughter believing that he had only come to seduce her mother made it perfectly clear she was not pleased with his visit. He didn't allow her dislike to discourage him from doing what he intended, nor did it keep him from falling in love with her. His feelings, however, weren't mutual. The half-fae made it perfectly clear she wanted nothing to do with him. He was not surprised by her opinions of him. It was one that many had shared over his long existence. In fact, a number--just like his mother had--regarded him as a monster. He didn't care, and he protected her all the same.

The half-fae had powers that allowed her to see things others believed one shouldn't see, and she shared these visions with anyone who would listen. Eden fearing that eventually someone would decide she was a witch and kill her, or worse, plead with her to keep her vision to herself. This caused her distrust him even more, but eventually she agreed. He watched the woman he love fall in love with someone else. He was son of a very rich and influential family, and renown for his Casanova personality. Eden believing his half-fae was just going to be another one of his conquest tried to convince her to end things with her human before she was hurt. She wouldn't listen. She believed that he didn't wish to see her happy as well as trying to control her.

It soon became clear that the only way he could protect her was to take her back to the dark ones' realm. She was outraged when he did just that, but her anger faded away and miraculously she ended up falling in love with him. Ask him, and he wouldn't be able to explain what changed. They lived happily together for some time. They even had a beautiful daughter that Eden absolutely adored, but their fairy tale eventually came to an end. It was thanks to Marken's influence. Marken still played a major role within Eden life. In fact, he treatment of his son hadn't changed. Eden still rarely stray too far from his father's reach. More than that, Marken claimed Eden's half-fae as his own, forcing her to endure the same torment as anyone who he believed was his.

When Marken told her that her daughter would endure the same fate when she came of age, the half-fae decided that she needed to flee and tried to convince Eden to come with them. Eden, however, wouldn't hear anything of it. Their disagreement grew with intensity until Eden consumed by his anger flung their infant daughter across the room while telling his lover if to leave if that what she truly wanted. The half-fae failed to catch their daughter who landed upon the ground with a loud thud. It was impossible to tell if the baby had been killed upon impact because Eden's lover immediately swept her baby off the ground and pressed her tightly against her chest--so tightly in fact that even the baby had been alive she would have suffocated. Eventually, Marken pried the baby away from her mother and declared her dead. This wasn't true but neither Eden nor his lover challenged his claim, and he whisked his granddaughter away to do with as he pleased.

Present

When Eden and the half-fae awoke the next day, they had very different memories of what happened the previous night. Eden unwilling to accept that he had done anything to severaly harm his child believed that his lover had taken a pillow and suffocated their child because she believed her to be a monster, and a deep hatred begun to take root within him. He did nothing to shield her from or prevent the torment that his father inflicted upon his lover. In fact, he actively joined in on his father's games, and tormented her all on his own. This in turn caused a deep hatred to take root within her, and their happy relationship came crumbling down.

Yet, as strange as this sounds Eden still loves her and when she returned to earth to help her rich human Eden wasted no time dragging her back and chaining her to the wall of his bedroom, and she remains there to this day. Many years have drifted past, and Eden found himself engaged to Azmyth's sister--a fact that had made him very happy because he believes her to be his other half--his soulmate if one wills. However, he doesn't expect her to share his feelings because it's very rare for someone to. More than that he questions whether or not he has a soulmate because how can a monster without a soul have one? Often, he finds himself wishing that they were married before Azmyth finds out the truth and calls off their engagement. He doesn't just mean the soulless thing, but the torment he had endured since he was a child have left him a very unstable individual. He is very careful on how he presents himself in public, but he knows others whisper about him and it's just a matter of time before those whispers finds themselves within the king's ears.
